Lena Mae Stepp (Hendricks, Dresbach)

Family lore has it that at some point Harry left Minnie for his Nurse.

Harry, Minnie and Helen are listed as all living together at 1120 W Park Pl. in a 1922 Oklahoma City directory; however, in the 1923 Oklahoma City directory, Minnie and her Daughter, Helen appear at that address (1120 W Park Pl.) together in the same household together without Harry.

In the 1923 Oklahoma City directory, Mrs. Lena Hendricks is listed with an occupation of nurse.

Minnie died, May 16, 1925 and by 1930 Harry had married a woman named Lena.  Additionally, in the 1930 Census for Oklahoma City, living with Harry and Lena is Ralph Hendricks, who is listed as Harry’s Step son, Lena is listed has having been born in Tennessee.  We can find a Tennessee Marriage Record for a Fred Hendrix and a Lena Stepp, in Washington County, TN, October 6, 1903.

We can find Lena and her husband Fred Hendricks living in Topeka Kansas in the 1910 Census.  (Topeka is about 100 miles west of Kansas City).  Then in the 1915 Kansas state Census, we find the Hendrick’s living in La Harpe, Allen County, KS (La Harpe is about 5 wiles east of Iola, KS.) with all their sons including one named Ralph.

A WWI draft registration for a Fred Taylor Hendricks, wife’s name Lena May, living in Sand Springs Oklahoma in 1918.  In the 1920 Census Fred is listed as divorced and living in Tulsa, OK with all 3 boys.  (including Ralph)

Lena and Harry lived in and around OKC until at some point Harry moved to and died in Ardmore, OK (perhaps at the soldiers home)

Lena appears in several years of OKC directories until she moves to Pampa, TX around 1957 (where she is still listed as “widow of H V Dresback")  in 1960 she moves to the address that is listed on her death certificate.
