Obituary Edwin J. Danner

EDWIN J. DANNER, 81

MUNCIE - Edwin J. Danner, 81, died Friday evening, November 12, 2004, at Ball Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Farmland, February 5, 1923, the son of Joseph and Martha Smith Danner.

He attended school in Farmland, graduated from Selma High School in 1941, and attended Indiana Business College.

Mr. Danner served in the Army Air Force during World War II with the 388th Bomb Group Association, stationed in England.

He was manager of the Westbrook Country Club, now the Elks Country Club, then International Sales Director for Imperial Cabinets until his retirement.

Since his retirement he has been a partner, with his family, of Danner's Books and Gifts.

Mr. Danner was a member of Friends Memorial Church, Elks Lodge #245, Muncie Lodge #433, F. & A.M.; the 388th Bombers Squadron, and was an avid golfer.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy A. "Dottie" Danner, to whom he had been married 58 years; two daughters, Susan K. Danner, Muncie, and Anne B. McLain, (husband, David), Tucker, Georgia; three grandchildren, Jennifer A. Johnson, Muncie, and Duncan Edwin McLain and Andrew R. McLain, both of Tucker, Georgia; his sister, Jeune D. Myers, Selma; and several nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wilbur L. Danner.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Parson Mortuary with Rev. Charlotte Overmyer officiating.

Friends may call at Parson Mortuary from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday or an hour prior to the services on Tuesday.

Elks Lodge #245 will conduct a memorial service at the mortuary 7:00 p.m. Monday.

Obituary Elizabeth Lockett (Miller)

THE FREMONT COUNTY HERALD
November 28, 1918.

DEATH OF MRS. MILLER.-- Mrs. Elizabeth Lockett Miller passed away at her home near Thurman on November 23, 1918 at the age of 55 years and 15 days. She was the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Lockett.

Her death was caused by pneumonia and heart trouble following an attack of influenza. She was born in Indiana on November 8, 1863. She moved from Indiana with her parents when she was a small girl to Minnesota and there she grew to womanhood and came to Iowa in 1886. In 1888 she was united in marriage with H. B. Miller. To this union seven children were born, all of whom are living, four daughters and three sons, as follows: Mrs. Annabell Sturdevant of Pawnee, Missouri; Mrs. Mary Jane Updike of Howard Lake, Minesota; Mrs.Edna Sitton of Sidney, Iowa; Mrs. Letty Hathaway of Percival, Iowa; Clifford, Wiliam and Irvin at home.

Besides her children she leaves her mother, one sister and 12 grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends who deeply mourn her death. Her husband passed away some eight years ago. Funeral services were held at the Lacy Grove cemetery Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev.Crouse.

I belive that Anna's maiden name is "Minniear" and she is listed as Annie, living in the household of her father and mother, Bluford and Rachael Minniear in the 1900 Blackford County, Harrison Township Census.

Obituary James Hamilton Lockett

JAMES H. LOCKETT DEAD.

Father of Mrs. A. Kramer and Mrs. Roy Brown.

James H Lockett, father of Mrs. A. Kramer of Decatur, and Mrs. Roy Brown of Chicago, and Miss Jessie Lockett of Spokane, Wash., died yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Brown in Chicago, Ill. He had been ill about three years, sustaining a stroke of paralysis before the removal of the family from Decatur two years ago.

He has been confined to the house since then but was remarkably bright mentally for one of his years. He was 84. He suffered a third stroke Friday morning. Word came that day the he was in a serious condition and a little afterwards a telegram announcing his death came.

The funeral will be held today at Georgetown, Ills., seven miles south of Danville. The body was taken there today. Mr. and Mrs. A. Kramer left last night to attend the funeral.

Mr. Lockett retired from business about twelve years ago. He was until then in business at Georgetown running a flouring mill. He was a fine old man and although not widely known in Decatur, had many friends who esteemed him highly.
