Mrs. A. Kramer died at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at her home, 404 West Eldorado street. For six weeks her strength had been gradually failing, but she had been confined to her bed only six weeks. Her sisters, Mrs. Roy Brown, and Miss Jessie Lockett, were with her.

After her marriage Mrs. Kramer and her husband joined the United Brethren church, and for forty years she was one of the most loyal and consistent members, continuing In active church, work as long as she was able. She was always ready in sickness and trouble to help with encouragement and cheerfulness. Her cheer and self reliance made her appear much younger than she reallywas.

Beside her sisters she leaves a daughter, Mrs. George Handy of Los Angeles, and: a granddaughter, Mrs. Clarence McClelland of Decatur and a niece, Miss Lela Lockett of Pekin. The body was removed to the L. A. Monson undertaking establishment and prepared for burial.

Obituary Louisa S Borchers (Kramer)

Decatur Weekly Republican (Decatur, Illinois) February 6, 1879

From Friday's Daily.

OBITUARY

On Thursday, Jan 21st, at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, Mrs. Louisa S. Kramer, wife of Abram Kramer, departed this life at her home on North Main street, in this city.

The subject of this notice was born in Lancaster, Ohio, June 9th, 1832, so that had she lived until June next she would have been 47 years of age. She professed the Christian religion at the early age of sixteen, in connection with the Methodist church, and from that time to the hour of her death she maintained a firm faith in her Savior, and developed a consistent christian life.

On November 16th, 1855, she was married to Abram Kramer at Lockville, Ohio, and in the following year Mr. and Mrs. Kramer came to Decatur and settled, having lived here from that time to the present.

About one week ago, Mrs. Kramer was stricken down with a very violent attack of lung fever, which from the first exhibited alarming symptoms, and in spite of all the good nursing and skillful medical attendance could do she steadily grew worse to the hour of her death. During the week of her sickness she suffered much, but bore her sufferings without a murmur, and though fully aware of her critical condition, she was as calm as if she had merely reposed upon her couch for rest and sleep, and to the last moment of her conscious life, the hope which she had cherished for thirty years was an anchor to her soul, sure and steadfast. - Deceased was a good woman in the highest sense.

As a member of the church she was devoted and faithful, ever being at her post of duty. She was a faithful and successful teacher in the Sunday school, the children of her class looking up to her as they would to a mother. In her own home she was a model wife and mother, rendering her death all the more painful to her husband and children. As a neighbor she was kind and obliging; to the poor and afflicted she was a ministering angel; and many will cherish the memory of her kindness to them in days of trouble to their latest hour.

At the time of her death Mrs. Kramer was an active member of the United Brethren church, having, in connection with her husband, united with it nearly twenty years ago. The church, as well as her family, and the neighborhood in which she lived, will deeply feel her loss.

Funeral Service in honor of deceased will be held at the U. B. church on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, Revs. Fields and Chittenden officiating.
