Death Notice Charles Lockett

Herald Despatch, Decatur, Illinois, September 20, 1890

Charles Lockett, aged 7 years, son of David Lockett, died Tuesday of Typhoid fever. The funeral occurred at the residence Wednesday at 1 p m , Rev Kelley officiating.

LOCKETTS ARE DIVORCED IN SUPERIOR COURT

Armistice Day of 1934 was just the opposite of that for the Locketts. They separated Nov. 11, 1934, testimony in superior court today showed. The husband, Amzie Lockett, was granted a divorce from Uva M. Lockett. He testified that she nagged him and told him to leave as well as making false charges against him.

The couple was married Aug. 27, 1922.

Lockett was inhibited by the court from remarrying for a period of two years.

Obituary Marvin Franklin
Garden View Funeral Home

Marvin R. Franklin, 83, of Muncie, IN, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 18, 1926 in Jay County, IN to the late Floyd and Lola (Pogue) Franklin. Marvin served in the Army from January 1945 to November 1946 as a med tech.

Marvin was employed with General Motors for 36+ years as a die maker, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Muncie’s American Legion. Marvin enjoyed boating, fishing, and motorcycling. He was also a nature lover. But above all, he loved his family to the fullest.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife of nearly 49 years, Clara (Driscoll McClunny) Franklin; children: Ron Franklin (Gale Franklin, mother to Marvin’s grandchildren); Linda Meyer (Doug Meyer, father to Marvin’s grandchildren); Vickie Knief (husband, Dick); Phyllis Eby (husband, Ernie); and Pam Canada (husband, Clark); son-in-law Bud Carrier; sisters: Wanetta Shreeve (husband, Virgil); and Ruth Howard (husband, Dave); 16 grandchildren; and many, many great-grandchildren.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Joyce Carrier; brothers: Dorwin Franklin; Melvin Franklin; and Wayne Franklin; and sister Geraldine Coil. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. The funeral service will be on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with military honors given by Delaware County Honor Guard.
