MRS. ENGLISH, 87, DIES; GRAVESIDE SERVICE AT PARIS

PARIS - Mrs. George Ethyl English, 87, of Hematite, formerly of Paris, died there early this morning.

The body will be brought today to the Agnew Funeral Home in Paris, Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. tomorrow in Walnut Grove Cemetery by the Rev. Robert Mattson, pastor of the Paris Christian Church.

Mrs. English was born Oct. 14, 1880, in Monroe County, a daughter of Jack and Ursula Waller Davis. She was married to Joseph Shelby English who operated a Paris drug store....................her death.

Surviving are two sons. Dr. Wallace English, who is in South Missouri, and William, Jerseyville, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Ed Glenn, Lousiana; two brothers, Bruce Davis, Paris, and Clark Davis, State of Montana, and 10 grandchildren.

Mrs. Crutcher, 95, Mother of two Moberlyans, Dies

Centralia - Mrs. Jean Crutcher, 95-year-old mother of Loyd Crutcher and John Crutcher of Moberly, died at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the home of a daughter, Mrs Chesta Vance, with whom she lived.

Mrs Crutched was born Aug. 16 1860, in Monroe County. She was married in 1894 to Charles Robert Crutcher, who died in October, 1936.

Surviving in addition to the daughter and two sons are another son Bruce Crutcher, Wichita Kan.; a daughter, Mrs. Laure Lea, Brookfield; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The body is at Meador Funeral home where it will remain until the funeral, at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in First Christion Church here. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Marion Rowlen. Burial will be in Cedar Grove cemetery near Paris.

BRUCE DAVIS, 85, DIES SUDDENLY AT PARIS HOME

PARIS-Bruce Davis, 85, died unexpectedly at 12:30 p.m. Monday at his home in Paris. He was a retired farmer.

Born in Monroe County on May 20, 1883, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Davis. He was married to Anna McGee in 1910. Mr. Davis was a member of the Oak Ridge Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Warren, Paris, and Reginald, Vandalia; two daughters, Mrs. Gentry Featherston, Paris, and Mrs. Pat Trelkeld, Liberty; one brother, Clark Davis, state of Montana; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The body is at the Agnew Funeral Home in Paris, where services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Ethyl English Glenn Fry, 99, died Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Benjamin Borden Healthcare Center in Lexington, Va., after a long illness, thought to be Alzheimer's Disease in addition to long-standing chronic lymphocytic leukemia

She was born on March 18, 1912, in Paris, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph Shelby English and Georgia Davis English. Her two brothers, Wallace Davis English and William Waller English, preceded her in death

She was raised in Paris and Columbia, Missouri, and graduated from Hickman High School and the University of Missouri, both in Columbia. She pursued graduate social work training at the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a social worker in St. Louis, Missouri

In 1936 she married Edward A Glenn, a lawyer and farmer from Louisiana, Missouri. They had three children. While she was raising her children, she also managed an apartment house. After her children were grown, she returned to college at MacMurray College and completed her Title XI coursework and then taught middle school remedial reading for 11 years before retiring. Mr. Glenn died in 1978

In 1982 she married Judge J. Overton Fry to whom she was married until his death in 1993

She was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Louisiana, Missouri, where she taught Sunday school for over 20 years. She was a member of the P.E.O. sisterhood, the Louisiana Great Books Society, American Association of University Women, and a bridge club. She moved to Kendal at Lexington, a retirement community in Lexington, Virginia, in 2000, to be near her younger daughter

She is survived by her three children: a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Ned and Patricia Glenn of Louisiana, Missouri; a daughter, Dr. Judith Samson, of Dallas, Texas; and a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and John Harralson of Lexington, Virginia. She is survived by five grandchildren: Linda Kelly Scherder and Ted Glemi of Bowling Green, Missouri; Marty Glenn of St. Louis, and Ellie and Wes Glenn of Kirksville, Missouri. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Evan Scherder, Reid Glenn, George Glenn, and Austin Scherder, all of Bowling Green, Missouri. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Fellowship Fund at Kendal at Lexington or to the First Christian Church, Louisiana, Missouri
