Obituary George Jacob Shrader

George J. Shrader, 88, of Hartford City died on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Bridgewater Centre in Hartford City. He was a lifetime resident and farmer in Washington Township, Blackford County. He served on the township advisory board for 24 years. He formerly served on the Board of Directors for the Farm Bureau and the A.S.C.S.

He was born in Hartford City on June 1, 1919, a son of Homer M. and Lena Elizabeth (Shelton) Shrader. He was a 1937 graduate of Roll High School and attended Roll United Methodist Church. He was married in Roll on Feb. 24, 1945 to Marjorie O. (Moore) Shrader who preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 1992.

He is survived by his sons Keith (Barbara) Shrader of Hartford City, and Gary (Joan) Shrader of Hartford City, and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Herschel Shrader and John Shrader, and his sisters Ruby Shrader and Mary Howell.

Calling will be on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the Glancy Funeral Home - Walker Chapel in Montpelier. Services will be on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Landis officiating. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Montpelier. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the church of the donor's choice.

FLOYD E. SHELTON, 86

ROLL - Floyd E. Shelton, 86, Roll, died at 3:10 P.M. Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in Bluffton Regional Medical Center, Bluffton, after a long illness.

Mr. Shelton was born July 23, 1919 in Blackford County, the son of Clel and Carie (Shrader) Shelton, and attended Roll schools. March 9, 1941, he married Rachel Ross in Warren, IN. and lived most of his life in the Roll area.

He had worked for Overhead Door Corporation, Dana Corporation, Marion, and retired July 23, 1981 from RCA Corporation, Marion, after 17 years of employment.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II serving in the China, India, & Burma Theatres.

In his retirement Mr. Shelton traveled, enjoyed country and bluegrass music shows, and grew lots of corn, green beans and tomatoes in his garden. He had a ready sense of humor and the last few years enjoyed watching the Indiana Pacers and reruns of the Andy Griffith Show.

Surviving are his wife, Rachel; a daughter, Gloria (Mrs. Mike) Ray, Montpelier; a son, Lewis Shelton (wife, Marcia), Manhattan, Kansas; a granddaughter, Traci (Mrs. Tim) Davis, Poneto; 4 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Milo, William, Clifford, Herschel, and Homer Shelton, and sisters, Opal Highly and Lena Shelton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 16, 2006, in Waters Funeral Home, 501 W. Washington St., Hartford City. Burial will follow in Roll Cemetery.

Friends may call at Waters Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, June 15, 2006 and after 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 16, 2006.
