1900 Census

In the 1900 Junction City, Union County, Arkansas Federal Census we find Harry living with his Mother.  (Junction City is listed as in Henderson Township.)  Harry is listed as:

Pierce Caulfield, born September 1889 (age 10) in Arkansas, his father was born in Ireland and his Mother was born in Louisiana, he is listed as a son to the head of household, Mattie Caulfield.

Summary/Assumptions:

Whoever supplied the Census taker with the information listed all the children in the household as having the same last name, Caulfield (as well as place of birth of the father, Ireland).  Based on later Census years and what we know, the birth dates for Pierce incorrect.  Perhaps the information was provided by someone other than Martha?

1910 Census

In the 1910 De Queen, Sevier County, Arkansas Federal Census we find Harry living with his Mother and her family.  (De Queen is listed as in Bear Creek Township.)  Harry is listed as:

Pierce Dean, born 1892 (age 18) in Arkansas, his father was born in Louisiana and his Mother was born in Arkansas, he is listed as a step-son to the head of household, Jesse Magby.

By 1920 Harry is living in Arkansas with his family as we find them in the 1920 Malvern, Hot Springs County, Arkansas Federal Census, enumerated January 15, 1920.

Harry is listed as the head of the household, born 1892 (age 28) in Louisiana, his father and mother were born in Louisiana as well.  His profession is listed as Electrician for the Gas Pipe Line.  His wife's name is Naoma, born 1891 (age29) in Arkansas.  They have one child.   The child listed is:

1. Margarette Dean, born 1914 (age 6) in Arkansas, her father was born in Louisiana and her Mother was born in Arkansas, she is listed as a daughter to the head of household, Harry P Dean.

Summary/Assumptions:

While his Mother and step-father had relocated to Oklahoma it appears that Harry had previously met Naoma and married in Arkansas and had already settled down sometime around 1913.

1930 Census

By 1930 Harry is living in Oklahoma with his family as we find them in the 1930 Catoosa, Rogers County, Oklahoma Federal CEnsus.

Harry is listed as the head of the household, born 1896 (age, looks like 34) in Arkansas, his father and mother are listed as being born in Arkansas as well.  His profession is listed as Farmer.  His wife's name is Lorene, born 1904 (age 26) in Missouri.  They have two children.   The children are listed as:

1. Margie L Dean, born 1924 (age 6) in Oklahoma, her father was born in Arkansas and her Mother was born in Missouri, she is listed as a daughter to the head of household, Harry P Dean.
2. Harry C Dean, born 1925 (age 4 8/12) in Oklahoma, his father was born in Arkansas and his Mother was born in Missouri, he is listed as a son to the head of household, Harry P Dean.

Summary/Assumptions:

Sometime before Margie was born, Harry had divorced Naoma, re-married Lorene and moved back to Oklahoma.  Based on age at marriage, they were married about 1922.  I also suspect that Lorene provided the information to the census worker, as Harry's place of birth as well as that of his Mother and Father seem to be incorrect.  His age does not match up as well.
